Please, Sir. Can we have some more… desks?

A Crewe primary school is putting on a three-week run of Christmas performances in order to raise enough money to buy new nursery furniture and classroom resources for their link school in Tanzania.

Wistaston Church Lane Primary School’s festive fund-raising marathon, which includes a production of Oliver Twist, carol concerts and a traditional nativity, is expected to raise over £400 to buy the equipment for its twin school in Tanzania.

Pupils, teachers, parents and local businesses including Absolute Recruitment have already raised over £5,000 to support Mang'ula School in the African country.

The money already raised has funded the building of a new nursery and the Christmas fund-raiser will help to fill the facility with stimulating resources.

Headteacher, Mr Prince said, “The school has set itself a big challenge in putting on 12 performances in December but the children have already proved they are up to the challenge.”

Mr Prince added: “We have been supporting Mang'ula School for nearly three years, raising money and supporting teachers to help give the children access to high quality nursery education.

“The school has been the driver for this but we would not have raised anywhere near as much as we have if it were not for our links with local businesses such as Absolute Recruitment who have given so generously.”

Members of the public can donate directly to Mang’ula A school by contacting Tanzed through their website www.tanzed.org.uk.
