How do I register for work with Absolute?

You can make an initial enquiry about employment by calling 01270 509266. You will still need to come to our office to formally register, but we will arrange this once we have established what sort of work you are looking for, what locations you can travel to, what your salary expectations are, and whether or not we think we will be able to secure work for you.

Will registration cost me anything?

No. Registration is completely free. Be wary of any recruitment agency that asks you for money in order for them to find employment for you. Recruitment agencies shouldn’t make money by charging their contract staff. If you register with an agency that tries to charge a fee and are concerned that they are not entitled to charge, you should report them to the Employment Agency Standards Inspectorate (see below).

Do I need a Curriculum Vitae to register?

No. Our application form contains a section where you can complete your career and qualification details.

If you can supply us with a CV though, it helps us get a fuller picture of your capabilities and career aspirations. If you don’t have one, you can get valuable advice on how to write a good CV from our CV Advice section.

Once I register, how soon can I expect to be working?

It depends on what sort of work you are looking for. Industrial and Hospitality placements tend to move quicker than Commercial, IT or Marketing placements as Industrial and Catering clients are less likely to have a formal interview process. Commercial, IT and Marketing clients generally have a structured interview procedure, so it make be a little longer before you are working.

The speed at which we find you work also depends on how prepared you are when you register with us, so ensure you bring all necessary documents with you  (see below).

What documentation will I need to register with Absolute?

In order to register with a professional recruitment agency, you should bring the following to your appointment:

• An up to date copy of your CV
• Your National Insurance number (if you have one)
• If you are considering temporary or temp-to-perm assignments, you should bring the details of a Bank Account that we can pay your wages into (if the account is not ion your name, you will need a letter from the account holder authorising you to use their account)
• Two forms of identification. Acceptable forms include either a valid passport full birth certificate (showing both parents names), or a photocard driving licence
• Proof of address. Acceptable documents include a P45, P60, Bank Statement, Utility Bill, or payslip from your previous employer.
• Two references, or the details of two work-related referees we can contact.).

What if I can’t attend my appointment?

Please call us on 01270 509 266 to either cancel the appointment or rearrange for another time.

What sort of protection do I have working for a recruitment agency?

For the most part temporary workers have the same rights and entitlements as direct employees. If you think that you are being disadvantaged in any way by your agency, you should contact the Employment Agency Standards Inspectorate in one of the following ways:
